Our research interests follow three principal directions: foundations of quantum mechanics, quantum information theory and practical quantum information.

In our research, we use an operational approach to quantum theory (traditionally associated to Vienna), with a great emphasis on gedankenexperiments and the use of basic laboratory procedures like preparations, transformations and measurements. This is the usual way to study the foundations of quantum mechanics, with the goal of getting novel insights and new frameworks for information processing in general physical theories. On the other hand, such an approach is the necessary tool for realistic applications of quantum information theory.
